Monday story time.So last year we had started to notice this adorable feral cat that kept coming to our apartments and we wanted to slowly earn its trust so that we can capture it and then bring it to our local pet project center so that it can get spay and neutered. We then started to get complaints from some of the apartment residences thinking just because we are crazy cat people that we are being annoying by feeding it that it will keep coming back and bother them. We had told most of the residents that saw us doing this that we were doing it for a reason because cats repopulate like crazy and the best thing to do is to earn its trust so we can do the right thing to get it to the local shelter. The most important thing here is that most shelters will do this for free but don't have the resources to come out and get it but rely on volunteers to do this for them. Once they have been spay and neutered they will then release them back out because them living in a cage will not make them happy unless the pet center has extra space or feels like they can be adopted. Now people know we volunteer our time to foster kitties and we explain that to people or we will them we are educated on these situations but most people don't understand and they just look at us like we are crazy annoying cat lovers.Well last night we noticed that the cat that kept coming to our apartment complex now has kittens and guess what when those kittens get to the right age then they will start having kittens and now it is a never ending cycle. If the apartment complex people would have just listened to us they would have known that we are going to do this for free and volunteer OUR time to get them to the shelter to get taken care of. Even potentially find a home for this cat because it is so loving. This frustrates us more than anything and truly wish people would just let go of their pride and listen. So it hurts my heart to see this happen because now they will repopulate and have a chance at dying because of all of this instead of this being prevented.By the way the original cat that was coming to our apartment - I had reached the trust of being able to pick it up! :(Just had to vent this morning because I know most people here are educated or come here for advice.
